Dear Isaac, Maia and Virtual Wanderers,
The day started in Blanding, UT. Rescue dogs Kokopelli and Cimarron were too anxious to eat breakfast, which means I had to “pill” their heart meds down. It slowed us down getting started. I absolutely hate pilling them but even the pill wraps weren’t working. Road trips can be stressful.

Lunch was a Bear’s Ears scramble and the Twin Rocks trading post in Bluff. Then, we went south and detoured to Gooseneck State Park and Monument Valley. It add both miles and scenery. I have a whole collection of dog photos over the years at Monument Valley.

Mindful of the miles and the time change once we left the Navajo reservation, we didn’t stay very long at any one place. We took Indian Route 59 from Kayenta to Many Farms – my first time on this route. Although not Monument Valley, some beautiful views of mesas and bluffs.

We stopped at Canyon de Chelly National Monument for about an hour. This is our quick South Rim stop. We hiked a short ways at Tilted House. I love the Canyon. My favorite Southwestern Canyon. We spend longer at the north rim on the way home.

Now, we are getting our kicks on Route 66.
