Dear Isaac, Maia and Virtual Wanderers,
The change of scenery from the mountains around my home in Montrose to the iconic Utah scenery is an amazing shift. I took my old county nurse route through the W End of Montrose County and through the La Sals. Desolate beauty.

We made a short stop in Bedrock, CO. But, our big adventure on a long drive with a late start was Newspaper Rock in Bears Ears National Monument. I took my late dog, Maizzy here on our first road trip 10 years ago.

It’s a super short walk from the 12 mile drive once you turn off the highway. If you drive further, you are at Canyonlands. It’s fun but I always wish the hike was a little longer. It’s a beautiful panel and a fun place to pose the dogs.

Got checked in at the hotel and went to dinner. I always take the girls in the car so that aren’t left unattended. They were hungry and the restaurant had a 30-40 minute wait. I ordered to go. I should have checked before I left because they didn’t put everything in. I was too tired and hungry, as were the girls, by the time I figured it out. What I had tasted good. Just still hungry.

As we were waiting for the to-go order, I walked the girls around the block. There were miscellaneous tuples blooming in the middle of the grasses and “weeds” – I wonder the story behind that.

Tomorrow, more Utah icons. Come join us.

Love ya’!
