Dear Isaac, Maia, and Virtual Wanderers,
Today was simply a long drive home. South to the “real” Denver traffic, then west on I-70. I have not taken my beloved Honda Fit this route before. I-70 up the mountains has a slow lane that is like 35 MPH and everyone else is going 70+ MPH. Well, Mini Pearl doesn’t have it in her to do 70 MPH and there was too much traffic to get enough momentum going uphill to pass slow vehicles rapidly. So, it was kind of long and frustrating to the Eisenhower Tunnel.

We stopped in Glenwood for “real” lunch. When was my last real meal? Only yesterday in Ft Collins – but it felt longer. I was nervous about letting Cimarron out of the car. I felt awkward with 3 leashes, again. She liked hamburgers and ice cream, though. So, I think she is enjoying hanging out with us a little. I walked the dogs around to potty – but Cimarron didn’t. That would turn out to be a mistake later.

Now the terrain is more familiar. This was the road we took to get Kokopelli’s surgery at Roaring Fork Vet Surgery last spring. You see, Highway 50 is still under construction or we wouldn’t be on I-70 at all! Highway 50 is much quicker and more scenic. But, we are making progress. Cimarron had a meltdown having to pee near Delta – so we did have one more pit stop. We got home by evening and started the journey of getting Cimarron settled into the pack.

Wow! What a trip. One of the longest in our history. The cats can’t be left alone too long so I knew it was time to head home to check on them. The next trip is only about 3 weeks away – to Hovenweep. Today, that felt overwhelming!
Love Ya’all, Cathy Hartt (Grandma Hartt)
