And Every Stranger’s Face I See Reminds me That I long To Be Homeward Bound: Cortez to Home Day 9

Dear Maia, Isaac, and Virtual Wanderers, What’s a better way to end a road trip than a 100-mile detour to visit the ruins and drive your old 88-mile-long work commute? We got home maybe 2 hours ago.

It was a nice end to a trip that woke me up from my grief over Sazi and my depression over cold weather. The entire trip was pretty awesome. I enjoy the Southwest that’s closer to home, too. Today’s journey is far enough that I usually only get down a few times a year if that. And, the west end of my own county reminds me of my county health nurse days up there. It’s actually a fairly scenic route, just rural. The road less traveled.

Got home and got things somewhat back in gear. The cats always take a bite of time to straighten out. Then, I decided one more DoorDash because I have no energy to cook tonight.

The plants in the photo are my 4 new Sonoran desert babies and some beautiful flowers for my color pot that I bought from a nursery I like down in Cortez. I feel the rush of a late spring. So much to do that I normally do in March/April. My daylilies are quite a bit bigger than when I left.

Oh, update on Moki. He has a new home in Durango in a home with 1 other higher-energy dog. He is a good dog and I hope he does well here. His first adopter loved him but he didn’t settle into the pack routine, so it was decided by his shelter and the owner to try a different match. He looks happy.

Kokopelli and I bonded during our first road trip together.

Tomorrow? Nothing too exciting. Maybe start catching up on spring work. And, I need to get a few things together to move to the new location on Monday. Life goes on.
